    To Have and to Give

    • Editors, designers and creators share their ideals on holiday giving and the items on their own wish lists.

        • What will you be giving this year?

        - Billie Iveson, Fashion and Beauty Editor, RUSSH Magazine

I try and think of unique gifts that the person would want but not necessarily buy for themselves. This year I’ll be giving my friend an astrology and Tarot card reading. It’s even better when the person is slightly skeptical - often they come away having some epiphanies about life. Other loved ones will receive a Maison Balzac carafe and vinyl records.

        - Filomena Natoli, Makeup Artist

For him, a Villa26 Gstaad pool float paired with a luxe beach towel. For her, a Sophie Buhai necklace or gold egg stud earrings.

    • A Trouve quartz bowl

    • - Pip Vassett, Director, In Bed

This year I’m giving the gift of good cheer in the form of organic wines from DRNKS. I know nothing about wine other than I like to drink it, but I have never had a bad wine from these guy. Aside from this there is also a strong possibility that I will be able to partake in said gifts. Merry Christmas to me!

      - Lilith Hardie Lupica, Digital Editor, Vogue Australia

I am obsessed with Maison Balzac's coloured glass homewares. Perfect for the hostess who says they don't need you to bring a thing - especially as it now extends to platters and bowls! It's also the perfect gift from you to you. I also love going out for a great meal in lieu of a gift this time year.

      - Lee Mathews, Designer

For him, books and natural wine. For her, Sans Ceuticals skin and hair care products and a Maison Balzac candle.

    • - Camilla Hyles, Head Office Coordinator, My Chameleon

My Dad is a farmer that rarely buys himself nice things so we always try to get him something special at Christmas time, a bassike linen shirt or nice sunglasses with a little pack of craft beers and chocolate covered peanuts. Alternatively, my sisters and I often combine forces and buy our parents an artwork - previously a sculpture through Alaska Projects in Sydney; or last year a beautiful contemporary Aboriginal work titled “three sisters” from Cooee Gallery, Bondi.

      - Elise Pioch, Founder, Maison Balzac

This year I am gifting a boat licence to my husband so we can cruise on the Mediterranean together. For her, the perfect gift would be a set of Maison Balzac champagne flutes in each colour.

      - Rachele Edson, Digital Content Editor, My Chameleon

My friends and family will be happily unwrapping the new Olio e Osso body oil, Studio Enti ceramic cups and Veja's environmentally conscious sneakers.

    • - Grace O'Neill, Fashion Features Director, Harper’s Bazaar & Elle Australia

For her: Fragrance makes for the best gift – it’s intimate and thoughtful while also being an indulgence. For him: This year I’m buying my partner a new bookshelf and filling it with books I think he’ll love: Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain, Here and There: The Collected Travel Writing of A A Gill, Fear in the Trump White House by Bob Woodward and The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead.

      - Rachel Rutt, Artist & Model

The traditional approach to Christmas shopping is evolving. Returning is such a huge post-holiday downside, as well as the crazy amounts of landfill waste this can contribute to, so I’ve started applying the ‘less is more’ philosophy. I try and listen in advance for something my loved ones have mentioned they need or want. This year, I’m getting my mum a rose quartz facial roller. For my man, who is a musician and DJ, I’m investing in a new set of headphones.

    • What would you love to unwrap on Christmas morning?

    - Anna Delprat, Market Editor, Vogue Living

In my book there's three criteria for the perfect gift - sentiment, usefulness, and beauty. I find it really thoughtful when someone notices you need something - be it a coin purse, a carafe for your desk, even something as everyday as salad servers. Personally, jewellery is my ideal gift, and I consider beautiful homewares like jewellery for the home. I’d love to receive earrings by Sophie Bille Brahe or Jacquemus, Maison Balzac glassware or Fog Linen kitchen products.

    - Ilona Hamer Stylist & Fashion Director, Unconditional Magazine

This year all I want to receive is a well-deserved break. I’m looking forward to a month back in Australia taking time out to spend with my family and loved ones. I want to have as much salt water, great food and sunshine as I can handle before I head back to the NY winter. Other than quality time, I’d love some A.Emery sandals, a Mansur Gavriel bag or a Christopher Esber dress.

    - Neada Deters, Founder, Lesse

There is no better gift than a puppy, but an ordinary year has me longing for items essential to my wellbeing and state of mind. Beautiful objects for the home–– or pieces that inspire creativity, self-care, or sentimentality. A sketch book, a plane ticket, jewellery or, better yet, a thoughtfully penned Christmas card. I would love to receive a pair of Sophie Buhai earrings, a Maison Balzac glass set or Deiji Studios loungewear set.

    - Emma Kalfus, Stylist & Creative Consultant, Side-Note

At the moment there isn’t too much I’m pining for… I can’t believe I’m admitting that, but it’s the truth… I feel really lucky. If I had to choose something, an Albus Lumen dress or Maison Bengal market bag. It reminds me of something my Nana had growing up, there’s something so nostalgic about it.

    • - Caroline Tran, Fashion Editor, Harper’s Bazaar & Elle Australia

I feel like I’ve had my eye on a mini Jacquemus bag all year! I’d love one to carry around for party season. I’d like to unwrap one of the new ready-to-wear pieces by Matteau. The cotton is so soft and the silhouette of this shirt is super easy, yet polished. An earring can elevate any party season outfit. I like to keep a few in rotation to wear with a simple dress, like this pair by Sophie Buhai.

      - Zara Wong, Fashion News & Features Director, Vogue Australia

On my wish list is Michelle Obama’s book, 'Becoming', a voucher to stay at Giraffe Manor in Kenya or a cooking class at the Ritz in Paris. I’d love some Christophe Robin hair products - a scrub for your hair and scalp sounds like such a luxury, but once you start, you really get it. A Villa26 pool sofa looks so fun! Now I just need to ask for a pool for Christmas!

      - Natalie Petrevski, Junior Fashion Editor, RUSSH Magazine

My ideal gift to receive could be a number of things: the really thoughtful, sentimental item that's been carefully considered and tailored to you. Or the unexpected surprise, something you didn’t know you needed or wanted, but absolutely love. Lastly, the gift that you've hinted for or requested, the no-fail present you'll wear, use or read for years to come. I’d love a dress from Matteau, earrings by Jacquemus or a Mansur Gavriel bag.
