    Dry Body Brushing.

    A How-To

    • Dry body brushing is definitely having a resurgence of late. This century-old practise is advocated by many as a form of manual exfoliation that aids in increasing the skin’s blood flow, removal of dead skin cells, and stimulating the lymphatic system. Alongside these health and wellbeing benefits, regular body exfoliation primes the skin to absorb body creams and serums more effectively.

    • HOW-TO

Most recommend dry-brushing in the morning before you shower, rather than before bed because of its energizing qualities. Always brush towards the heart starting under your feet then moving upwards using long, straight, smooth strokes to match the sensitivity of your skin. Lighter pressure may be needed on the stomach, abdomen, back, and armpits as these areas tend to be more sensitive. Brushing the abdomen in a clockwise direction is also a great way to aid digestion.

    • POINTS TO REMEMBER

      - Any kind of exfoliation or brushing should be gentle to never break the skin. When brushing be sure not to press too hard or use a brush that’s too stiff, natural bristles are essential.
      - Drink plenty of water. Stimulating the body releases toxins, increase detoxifying by drinking plenty of clean water thereafter.
      - Exfoliation is normally recommended three times per week, however, as long as the skin is not being irritated, body brushing can become a part of your daily wellness ritual before your shower. Use Sans Ceuticals two in one Bio Active Exfoliate once a week as an alternative to brushing to leave skin feeling hydrated and supple.
      - As a final touch, body lotion or serum applied after brushing is a great way of replenishing moisture back into the skin. We love Bois De Balincourt Scented Body Oil by Maison Louis Marie, the Christopher Robin Body Balm  or the Maryse Beauty Body Oil.
