Concrete Canvas

Open and illuminated by beams of ever-changing natural light, this concrete gallery in Bangkok is as carefully designed as it is curated. Made of reinforced concrete slabs, the four-storey building centers around the sculptural black steel staircase that ascends into the centre void toward the atrium. Designed with obscurely placed windows, visitors can view the artwork at various perspectives on each level. Bangkok based studio ASW Architects have applied their modern and often minimal approach to design to create a space that seamlessly provides a raw canvas to the artwork it houses.

  • “By filling the space with natural sunlight creates a living artwork on the concrete wall as a kind of living canvas.”
